The Effect of Stress Path and Line Surcharge in Seismic Pressure on Walls in Cohesive-Frictional Soils

چکیده مقاله:
The position of the title in this section is 120 mm from the top of the page or upper edge. In this paper, due to the effect of surcharge on wall, diagrams are presented for wall design. In these diagrams, without the need for formulation, pressure on the wall can be determined under the effect of surcharge. These graphs are in seismic mode and cohesive-frictional soils. All graphs are dimensionless and are for all heights and soil specific gravity. In this paper, the effect of the wall parameters has been studied. The results show that in high surcharges, the effect of surcharge is far greater than the impact of pseudostatic seismic acceleration coefficient. Also, increasing of line surcharge and horizontal acceleration coefficient of earthquake increase the seismic pressure coefficient and seismic force on the wall, contrary to the adhesion and internal angle of friction of the soil, which reduces the seismic pressure coefficient. In view of the fact that a wall in the period of time T to reach the acceleration coefficient Kh should experience all different seismic coefficients at different times, the stress path on the wall is plotted at this period of time. These graphs are also dimensionless and are for different soils, and in other cases, interpolation can be used.
