چکیده مقاله:

Back ground and Aim: curcuma longa Tumeric is a plant used in traditional medicine for the prevention and treatment of diseases, such as obesity, dyslipidemia, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. Dyslipidemia is one of the major risk factors for development of athero sclerosis and other heart disorders .This indicates a high level of lipids in the blood, of which includes triglycerides TGs and total cholesterol TC . This study evaluated the efficacy of Tumeric extract extract and curcumin on gene expression profiles of lipid metabolism path.way in human HepG2 Material and Methods: The cytotoxic activity of the plant extract and curcumin against the HepG2 cell line was assessed using an MTT assay. and the expression levels of genes as.sociated with lipid metabolism were determined Results: hydroalcoholic extract of turmeric and curcumin treatments caused a significant and a concentration-dependent increase in the cytotoxicity of HepG2 cells. turmeric and curcumin downregulated the expression of lipid synthesis gene such as SREBF2, but up-.regulated the expression of genes associated with lipogenesis such as CPT1A and ACOX1 Conclusion: Taken together, these results demonstrated that turmeric and curcumin remove the lipid and fatty acids. This suggested that turmeric and curcumin may actively amelio.rate obesity and fatty liver
