چکیده مقاله:
Background and Aim : Human Papillomavirus (HPV) was initially recognized in patient with cervicalcancer and is one of the most important sexually transmitted viruses in the world. There are over 200 uniqueHPV genotypes that have been confirmed, of which 30 to 40 are categorized on the basis of their oncogenicpotential as high- risk and low- risk leading to cervical neoplasia and miled dysplasia. HPV vaccination iscurrently not included in the national vaccination program in Iran. Regional data on the distribution of HPVtypes in women are important as they can predict the impact of currently available vaccines and help healthpolicy makers to consider all the possibilities with regard to HPV vaccination. In this review study wesought to determine the prevalence and Genotype distribution of HPV in Iranian women. Methods : This study was a simple review and prevalence rate of HPV in Iran was investigated from 2008-2018 using several databases including Cochrane, Scopus, Medline, Web of Science, Embase, GoogleScholar, Iran medex, and Scientific Information Database with keywords: Human Papillomavirus, HPVGenotypes, HPV Prevalence. 16 articles were selected based on the research criteria. Results : Result showed that among the HR and LR types, HPV-6 was the major genotype 64.8%. Type16 and 18 were the most frequent HR-HPV types (presented in 26% of the patient). Multiple HPV infectionswere presented in 40.7% of the positive genotyping specimens. Conclusion : The results of the present study underscore the need for further enforcement of STD controlstrategies in Iran. Higher frequency of HPV among the collected isolates and also the higher prevalence ofHPV types 6, 16, 18. It seems that HPV vaccination as well as an organized prevention program can be safeand efficient to reduce HPV types.
