A Review on the Importance of Hematic Management in Dental Treatment

Background and Objective: Bleeding complication after oral surgery by antithrombotic agents is one of the concerns to dentists on dental management of patients, especially patients with cardiovascular diseases. Stopping antithrombotic drugs may lead to thrombosis risk, while maintaining antithrombotic drug treatment may lead to non-stop bleeding during the surgery. Aim of this reviewing paper is identifying the guidelines available for management of invasive dental procedures on a patient with antithrombotic drugs.Materials and Methods: This study evaluates the importance of knowing about antithrombotic drugs and hematic inheritance and quality of their body, by analyzing articles from dependable scientific databases, including Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, PubMed, and Scopus. This research has been done with keywords anti-platelet agent , dental management , treatment , antithrombotic from 2010 to 2019 .Findings: If the patient is on aspirin, it is suggested that the initial treatment site be restricted. Currently, the most commonly accepted dual anti-platelet medicine is the combination of aspirin with clopidogrel. In such a case, hemostasis may be delayed up to an hour, which will explain the limitation of the initial treatment site. For the surgery with a higher risk of postoperative bleeding, active engagement of local hemostatic measures is recommended .Conclusion: The present results suggest that knowing to abut anti-platelet agent and medical history of the patient is showing the importance of platelet facts and the role of that in the position of the patient in thrombotic resistance.
