چکیده مقاله:

Background: Nonmelanoma skin cancer is the most common cancer worldwide and subdivided into basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and squamous cell carcinoma(SCC), SCCs are often thicker and more dysplastic than BCCs. Its incidence is increasing rapidly; therefore, using more useful and optimal methods for NMSC treatment is very important. Laser therapy is one of the newest NMSC treatment and subdivided into ablative laser and vascular laser therapy (such as PDL). This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of laser treatment for NMSC.Methods: This study was done by analyzing articles from scientific databases, including Google scholar, PubMed, Web of Science, ScienceDirect, and Scopus from 2015 to 2019. This research has been done with keywords: nonmelanoma skin cancer, laser therapy, and skin cancer. Results: For patients with BCC, laser therapy with PDL method had the best performance in comparison with other types of laser therapy; also, it had better aesthetic outcomes in comparison with other conventional treatments. However, using this method at a lower depth of tumor (1.5to2mm) and smaller tumor size has a high performance. We can use other types of laser therapy (YAG-Laser) for more deep-seated tumors, but they create more morbidity than other conventional treatments. Clinical evidence about Capability of laser therapy of SCC patient are minimal, but ablative CO2 lasers have been employed successfully as a treatment method for SCCs in some cases. Conclusion: More studies required to confirm that we can use laser therapy as a perfect treatment instead of conventional treatments that are used nowadays.
