چکیده مقاله:
Background and Aim : Emotional competence is a combination of emotional knowledge and emotional self-regulation skills. A remarkable body of research revealed that emotional competence develops through childhood. Methods : This study aims to investigate the possible facilitatory role of an educational program (PART) on emotional competence. In a pretest-posttest paradigm, 49 children (mean age= 5.22, SD= 0.62 girls=23) participated in this study. With a random assignment, the experimental group received ten one-hour sessions of the PART for five weeks. We used the Affect Knowledge Test and the Preschool Self-Regulation Assessment as behavioral assessments. Results : The experimental group’s emotional knowledge (M=29, SD=2) and emotion regulation pretest scores (Pencil-tap: M= 77, SD= 24; Toy-wrap: M= 84, SD= 28) were significantly improved in comparison to the control group (M=27, SD= 3; Pencil-tap: M= 69, SD= 18; Toy-wrap: M= 77, SD= 29 respectively; all p< .05).Conclusion : The study results suggest that PART has facilitatory effects on children’s emotion-knowledge and emotion self-regulation.
