COMPARISON OF EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONS OF THE BRAIN AND ANXIETY IN DRUG ADDICTED AND NORMAL PEOPLE

چکیده مقاله:
Background and Aim : This study aims to compare the executive functions and anxiety of addicted and healthy people in Tehran city. Methods : The method of this research was the descriptive-comparative one. Accordingly, 30 drug addicted people and 30 healthy people were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, purposefully. The research instruments included: continuous performance test, tower of London test, strop test, Wechsler’s test, digit span test and page span test of WAIS – RNI exam and beck anxiety inventory.Results : . To analyze the data, after reviewing and confirming the defaults was used of multivariate variance analysis method. The result of multivariate variance analysis showed that the addicted people had a poor performance in executive functions than the healthy group people, meaningfully (p<0/05). Also, indicated, anxiety varies among addicts and healthy people (p<0/05). Conclusion : The result of research shows, the addicted people should be examined on various neuropsychological assessments at the start of each therapeutic plan. Therefore, the damaged cognitive- executive functions created by the drug may lead to people falling in therapy, failure to use post-treatment service, unemployment, obsessive desire to consume continuously and increase the amount of drug.
