چکیده مقاله:
Background and Aim : Tendency to addiction and its prevalence among young people, especially among soldiers, is because of their particular circumstances during this period; that is, the stressful nature of military environments. Therefore, identifying the factors associated with this issue is important. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between emotional intelligence and readiness for addiction among soldiers in one of Khorramabad garrisons. Methods : The research design was descriptive-correlational. The study population consisted of all soldiers in one of Khorramabad garrisons in 2019. 250 soldiers were randomly selected from them. The inclusion criteria of the study were informed consent, ability to read and write and military service for more than 10 months. Not completing the questionnaire questions was considered the exclusion criteria. The questionnaires of Bar –On Emotional Intelligence (Bar –On, 1996) and Iranian Addiction Potential Scale (Zargar, Najarian & Naami, 2008) were used for the evaluation of the variables of emotional intelligence and readiness for addiction. Data were analyzed by using Pearson correlation. Results : The results of the data analysis showed that there is a significant negative relationship between the components of emotional awareness, independence, social responsibility, reality, flexibility, problem solving, stress tolerance and impulse control with the component of active readiness, and there is a significant negative relationship between the components of self-assertiveness, happiness, self-regard and optimism with the components of passive readiness (p<0/01). Conclusion : Considering the frequency of emotional reactions in the soldiers and the effect of the stressors of the military environment on their exacerbation and tendency toward addiction, it is necessary to use supportive, rehabilitation and psychological interventions and holding addiction training workshops to strengthen the treasury of behavior and coping strategies.
