چکیده مقاله:

Soil and Leafy Vegetables contamination by heavy metals, though restricted to surface horizons, based on soil texture are occluded, organically complexed, modified and specifically adsorbed based on anthropogenic sources, resulted in toxicity ramification on human health, has been in vogue as a serious environmental problem for last few decades.. Meanwhile there is a growing demand to find relatively efficient, low-cost and easily ecofriendly and available adsorbents for the adsorbing process of heavy metals, particularly if the adsorbents are the wastes from agricultural or food industries. Recent studies showed that Food and agricultural wastes have the potential of adsorption of heavy metals. As coffee consumption around the world is over eleven billion tons per year, in current study the potential of adsorption of Coffee bean waste (Arabica & Robusta) as a bio-adsorbent and insoluble component in water was investigated. Different percentages of coffee waste as adsorbents were added in farms. The 120 samples of coriandrum sativum (coriander) and soil of 5 vegetable farms from the south of Tehran in presence of coffee waste and untreated samples were collected in spring 2019. Nickel and Cadmium were determined by wet digestion method according to the AOAC protocols by ICP . Result revealed that 5%coffee waste has more potential to adsorb Cadmium and Ni after 40 days of study ( P < 0/05 ). A contact time of 30 days by 5% Coriander was found to be optimum and Cadmium and Nickel contents were removed 81.76% and 52.35% respectively. In conclusion, Waste of Coffee could be a good adsorbent to remove heavy metals from soil amendments and improve the safety of vegetable and soil in the same time.
