چکیده مقاله:
Background and Objective: Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a movement disorder that is related to loss of dopamine neurons in the substantia nigra. Different molecular pathways, including apoptosis, autophagy, inflammation and oxidative stress and aggregation of α-synuclein are involved in the pathophysiology of PD. Chrysin supplementation have an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. Few studies reported effects of chrysin on PD. This review summarizes what is known regarding the effects of chrysin supplementation on PD and the mechanisms involved. Search Method: Databases including PubMed, MEDLINE, EMBASE and Web of Science were searched until February 31th, 2019. Findings: Animal studies reported that chrysin supplementation is benefit for PD. Chrysin decreased the oxidative stress, proteins related to apoptosis (Bax, and caspase 3) and inflammatory factors (tumor necrosis factor-α, interleukin-1β, interleukin-2, interleukin-6 and nuclear factor-kappa B). Also, chrysin supplementation significantly prevented decrease in dopamine neurons. Conclusion: Chrysin supplementation have beneficial effects in the treatment of PD. Clinical trials and more in vivo studies are required to evaluate the treatment effects of chrysin supplementation in the improvement of PD.
