چکیده مقاله:

Introduction : The World Health Organization has counted traffic accidents as the first cause of death among young people in the world. Fars province has the highest mortality rate due to traffic accidents in the country. Information about road accidents has been distributed among the various traffic police bases, pre-hospital emergency services, trauma centers and the country s forensic medicine organization. In this study, in addition to a clearer picture of the state of death in Fars province, we can play a role in reducing mortality rates and injuries from traffic accidents. Methods: The Emergency Database, Forensics and Shahid Rajaie Surgery Center were merged. The result of the mission, the accident time, the accident mechanism, the condition of the accident (driver, occupant, pedestrian), the lighting situation, the deceased vehicle, the severity of injury, the duration of hospitalization in the treatment center, the affected area, the operation and the outcome of the treatment. Logistic regression model was used to determine the effect of different factors such as age, sex, severity of injury and other attributes on traffic accident consequences and a significant level of 0.05. Results: A total of 23,215 injured patients were examined by pre-hospital emergency services. 19057 injured were referred to Shahid Rajaee Health Center and 1646 people died. The mortality rate in Fars province was 34in one hundred thousand population. The chance of death in men is 0.37% higher than that of women. Gender variables, injury mechanism, surgery, and severity score have a significant effect on the chances of death. Per unit increase in severity of injury, the chance of death increased by 0.13, and in patients requiring surgery, the likelihood of death is 3.81. The average severity of injury and duration of hospitalization for injured patients is 4.68 and 3 days, and in the deceased is 28.61 and 10 days. The mortality rate in Fars province was 34 and the death rate was 0.007.Conclusion: Most of the deceased are young men. Accidents caused by the collision of vehicles with each other. The main mechanism of road deaths and the deaths caused by motorcycle and pedestrian traffic are the most important mechanism causing death in urban areas. The causes of death are changing, and damage to the upper and lower extremities has a meaningful relationship with the death of the injured and causes many disabilities. The severity of injury can be considered as one of the predictors of the survival of the injured.
