Aesthetics role in Formation of Urban Landscape

The urban landscape is one of the most important urban issues that has attracted the attention of architects, designers, psychologists and sociologists. The urban landscape, apart from its role as a layer in the formation of the urban form, serves as a tool that can enhance citizens aesthetic experience, improve the mental image of the community and strengthen their civic pride. According to urban experts, the aesthetical outward appearance of the building is not separate from the building, and, regardless of the ultimate cover for resistance to atmospheric conditions, expresses the performance of the building (adaptation of the form of the building to its function), the manner, the behavior and the thoughts of the inhabitants, as a social hinge, there is a common area of public and private spaces.However, the understanding of the nature of the urban landscape has been faced with a kind of superficiality in scientific definitions. In Iran, due to personal definitions, this concept is reduced to a small perception of the building outward appearance. The reviewed studies reveal that the urban landscape is effective in providing aesthetic aspects such as proportion, harmony and rythum in the city and can highly contribute to the quality of the environment. Therefore, it can be deduced that the urban landscape is the concrete connection of the building with the city and a deep scrutiny in its formation is required to enhance the overall image of the city and alleviate the aesthetic aspects of the buildings and the city.
