Biofloc technology (BFT): An innovative technology for sustainable aquaculture

An innovative technology which is called biofloc technology (BFT) that can pursue the objectives of sustainable aquaculture by using zero-water exchange. The sustainable approach of such system is based on growth of microorganism in the culture medium, benefited by the minimum or zero water exchange. An attempt has been made to summarize the features and management aspects of the zero water exchange system to achieve sustainable aquaculture.
