چکیده مقاله:

IntroductionMultiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic inflammatory and demyelinating disease of the central nervous system with complex etiology and still unknown causes, which affects individuals in their productive years. Several population-based studies have shown a sharp increase in the prevalence and incidence of MS in Iran.Currently, no definitive treatment is recognized for MSbut neural stem cell (NSCs) therapy isproviding hope for many degenerative diseases that lack effective therapeutic methods including MS. In this review, we have tried to discuss about the NSCs therapy in MS patients.MethodsThe information in this study is compiled from reputable domestic and international scientific databases such as PubMed, Google, Scholar, and Margarine.ResultsNSCs represent an attractive source to develop a cell therapy for MS. Recent Studies have demonstrated that injection of NSCs can alleviate neurological dysfunction and promote re-myelination in animal model of MS. It has been shown that the therapeutic effects of NSCs are due to their neural cell re-population, which makes stem cell therapy more effective than current drugs. Not only can they halt the inflammatory demyelinating process in CNS, but they also differentiate into neurons in CNS, to repair damaged tissues. Therefore, NSCs therapy can be considered for developing novel therapeutic approaches for MS treatment.ConclusionNSCs therapy, have shown great potential in the treatment of MS. Although there are still some problems to be solved, we predict that stem cell transplantation can be a safe and effective therapy for MS
