Major areas of dust in the world and a review of the Shamal, Frontal, and Convective storms

This study is a review search and has been developed, with word dust storm in authoritative databases and books, that introduces the category of dust storm, their main sources. Dust storm events originate predominantly in arid or semi-arid environments, which account for some 33% of the total world land area. In fact, the northern hemisphere generates some 90% of global airborne mineral dust, where it is also deposited. In West Asia, however, most of them can be classified within one of the following three types: shamal, frontal and convective.
