Self-burning in Children and Elderly in Amir-al-Momenin burn hospital in Shiraz during 1390 -1396

Introduction: Nowadays Self-burning is prevalent among people in developing countries. It may have physical, mental, social, economic or psychological causes. Moreover, self-burning is one of the important reasons of death in children and elder.Methods: In this article we study prevalence of self-burning in children and elder from 90 to 96 that hospitalized in Amir-al-Momenin burn hospital in Shiraz.Results: Without attention to the age limitedness, about 437 cases of self-burning has been reported from 90-96 at all. Total frequency of children (below 13 years old) at 90-96 was 1059 cases. Just 6 cases were include self-burning and 111 person were more than 70 years old, which between them only 5 cases essay to self-burning. The average of their hospitalization was 13.75 and their age average was 31.049 and the mean percentage of their burning was 66.057.Potentially among 437 cases that essay to self-burning about 109 cases has experienced psychological disease and 6 cases suffering from epilepsy. In this study 178 cases were male and 259 cases were female. Conclusion: Preventive strategies implemented at a community level and identifying vulnerable individual maybe more effective than global strategies.
