Investigation of vanadyl ion-exchanged y zeolite(vo-y) as an Efficient Catalyst for the Synthesis of bis(indolyl)phenyl methane

VO ion exchanged Y zeolite is found to be an efficient catalyst for the electrophilic substitution reaction of indole with benzaldehyd to afford the correspounding bis(indolyl)methane. The remarkable features of this new procedure are high conversions, cleaner reaction profile, easy purification and simple experimental and work-up procedures
