چکیده مقاله:

In gender research, the concept of language has been examined and has placed discourseat the forefront. In recent years, an interdisciplinary approach has become the favored method tostudy gender and discourse, as no particular area and, in fact, no particular overall approach, hasbeen as fruitful on its own within this type of study. Nonetheless; discourse analysis ismultifaceted. Research in this area can take many different forms, and the analysis in this area hasbeen instrumental in the advancement of gender and politics. This article aims to consider fourmain segments of this variety of investigation, covering four different disciplines. First, it willdelve into applied linguistics, where the specific cultural behaviors of different groups have led toa highly significant and influential research. Second, and very much related to the first area, it willconsider the anthropological approach, where discourse has been mapped from a historical pointof view. Third, as discourse is highly affected by social actions, it is natural to consider it from asociological perspective. Finally, as discourse and language are so interrelated, I will considerthings from a critical perspective, where researchers have focused on specific text or speech. Asnoted above, although these four disciplines and areas aim to be distinct, there is naturally a greatlevel of overlap. These traditions are interconnected. Thus, even when considering ideas from anyone perspective, there will be a variety of areas and frameworks that come into play. However, notably, this article reflects particular varieties of discourse analysis as they pertain to the conceptof gender. The lecture begins by examining how concepts of language and gender have evolved in thefield of sociolinguistics. Over the span of recent decades, linguists used multiple approaches toexamine the concept of gendered discourse. Gender dualism evolved over this span, which led totwo separate styles of research being performed; this dualism will be considered. Subsequently, some of the most important modern researches in the area of gender and language are reviewed interms of how they have evolved from approaches of decades past. Finally, this will lead into thearea of political discourse, which will be considered from an analytical perspective with the aimof decoding the media. I will suggest that by limiting the study of discourse to the structural assetsof the terms used in speech and writing, it only accounts for a portion of the important materials. As such, one must also analyze the specific contexts in which these terms are used and therelationship they have with the structure of discourse itself.
