The Effect of Sexual Health Education on Knowledge, Attitude and Practice in Women Referring to Fasa Health Centers

Background: Due to the existence of sexual problems and misconceptions about it in Iran and the need for proper education of sexual health and prevention of its problem, this study aims to investigate the Effect of Sexual Health Education on Knowledge, Attitude and Practice in Women Referring to Fasa Health Centers in 2017 Methods: This quasi-experimental study was conducted on 200 women (100 in the experimental and 100 in control groups) who were referred to two health centers in Fasa, using randomsampling method. Data were collected using a researcher-made questionnaire in four parts: demographic characteristics, knowledge (17 items), attitude (20 items), and sexual Practice (21 items), both groups were completed before and 3 months after the intervention by self-report. Educational intervention was performed in 4 sessions of 50-55 minutes in group discussion and question and answer with educational images for the experimental group. Data were analyzed using SPSS22 software, descriptive statistics, Chi-square, independent t-test. P<0.05 was considered as statistically significant. Results: The mean age of women in the experimental and control groups were respectively 38.04±6.25 and 37.70±5.45. The mean scores of women s knowledge, attitude and practice about sexual health increased in the experimental group compared to the control group 3 months afterthe intervention (P<0.001).Conclusion: According to the results of this study, the effectiveness of educational intervention to improve the practice of women about sexual health, the design and implementation of educational interventions is suggested in order to educate and promote the health of women inthe society.
