Chemical Process Industry Waste-Heat Recovery and Reuse

A substantial amount of energy used by refineries or petrochemical industry is wasted in process heating equipment. The industry has also been imposing more and more energy demands because of its massive production, and it seems that the rate of greenhouse gases emissions is not going to be reduced or at least kept fixed. The distillation process remains the first choice of chemical process remains the first choice of chemical process study due to its higher energy consumption and limited separation efficiency. This paper studies the different heat recovery equipment in distillation column. It also presents the results of three studies conducted to identify opportunities for waste heat recoveryin process industrial facilities using heat pump technology. This paper confirms that, there is tremendous potential for energy saving in the chemical process industry
