چکیده مقاله:
Introduction: Glucose-6 phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) plays an important role in the entire glucose metabolism cycle of all cells in the body, due to the lack of this enzyme, is a classic manifestation of acute hemolytic anemia, which occurs if there is a high prevalence of oxidative substances in the bean. This study is the prevalence of g6pd deficiency among NICU neonates.Materials and Methods: In this descriptive-analytical study, 2722 newborns from the umbilical cord were given serum samples and the G6PD enzyme activity was determined by staining fluorescence method. Demographic data including place of living, sex, history of G6PD deficiency in the family. Data were analyzed using SPSS software and chi-square test. Results: Out of 2722 neonates, 60 had g6pd deficiency, of which 44 (73.3%) were males and 16 (26.7%) were male. The birth weight of these infants is 39 (65%) between 2500 and 3500 and 17 (28.3%) is more than 3500 and 4 (6.7%) is between 2000 and 2500. The type of delivery, 39 (65%) had vaginal delivery and 21 (35%) cesarean section. Also, the gestational age in this study was 46 (76.7%) more than 38 weeks and 14 (23.3%) were between 38-34 weeks. In g6pd deficient infants, 10 (16.7%) had a history of favism in their family and 50 (83.3%) had no history of favism in their family. Conclusion: The prevalence rate in this study is 2.2 %. Due to the manifestations of the disease and the sensitivity of this group, it is necessary to identify the early screening of these infants and provide the necessary guidance and care.
