Clinical education stress factors from the viewpoint of operating room and anesthesiology students of Birjand University of Medical Sciences

IntroductionClinical training is an essential part of education in the operating room which without that, training competent people would be very difficult or impossible. Existence of any problem in clinical education .will destroy effectiveness and efficiency of this part and stress is one of those problems Material & Methods This cross sectional study was implemented with the aim of determining clinical training stress factorsfrom the viewpoint of operating room and anesthesiology students of Birjand University of Medical Sciences in 93-94 education year. Criteria for entering into the study was passing at least one clinical internship in the operating room. The data gathering tool was a researcher made questionnaire that the content validity was approved by five faculty members and test-retest was used for reliability. The data.was analyzed by SPSS16 software Results of students filled the questionnaires that 48 were male and 128 were female. 142 persons (80.7%) 176were operating room students and 34 persons (19.3%) were anesthesiology students. Comparing the students opinions about the stress factors was in a way that they reported averagely 46.6% curriculum in clinical education, 36.9% environmental factors, 48.3% clinical practices and 44.3% contemptuously experiments and 44.3% reported unpleasant feelings as high, and interpersonal relationships of 55.1% as.low Conclusion Based on current research results, the teachers and practitioners of clinical education should adopt : ways to reduce clinical stressors. Since educators have an important role in clinical education, they should .restraint from behaviors and actions that cause unpleasant feelings and fears from doing clinical work
