چکیده مقاله:

Colorectal Cancer (CRC) is the third most common cancer in the world. Over the past three decades, its incidence has increased in Iran. This cancer is seen in both hereditary and non-hereditary forms. Many researchers have identified and investigated various biomarkers for detection this cancer. One of the most important these biomarkers are mutations in APC gene. It has been seen that various types of mutations in this gene cause colorectal cancer in 87% of cases. In this study, blood samples were collected from patients with colorectal cancer and healthy controls in the western and northwestern region of Iran. After extraction of serum ctDNA, mutations in the exon 18 of the APC gene were evaluated using ARMS-PCR assay. The results showed that mutations in this region of APC gene in males and females with colorectal cancer were 19.2% and 20.1%. Finally, the results of this study indicate that APC gene can be used as a biomarker for CRC detection
