چکیده مقاله:

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are commonly used in inflammation treatment. These drugs may have some side effects. Considering the side effects of the NSAIDs, using medicinal plants with antioxidants, can be effective. The present study was conducted to evaluate the effects of chamomile and flaxseed combination on serum biochemical factors changes at indomethacin-induced gastric ulcer in adult male rats. Thirty male Wistar rats were divided into six groups: control, positive control and prevention groups including treatment with extract combination. Treated rats received the combined extract with doses (50, 200 and 500) mg/kg weight by gavage for 14 days. At the end of treatment, induction of gastric ulcer (30 mg/kg) was undertaken using indomethacin injection. Blood samples were collected 4 hours after induction of gastric ulceration. The biochemical factors (glucose, potassium, urea, calcium, phosphorus, sodium and copper) of all the groups were analyzed. The results showed that the combination of the two herbs inhibits the changes of serum biochemical factors. Concentrations of calcium, phosphorus, sodium, and urea were not significant in treatment groups with two plants in combination. According to the findings of this study, the combination of flaxseed and chamomile extracts can prevent the changes in serum biochemical factors in gastric ulcer caused by indomethacin.
