چکیده مقاله:
Background and Aim: The prevalence of cardiovascular disease is dramatically increasing particularly in developing countries. Among different factors, diet has an important role in the pathogenesis of these diseases. The current study was done to assess the relationship between dietary quality index-international (DQI-I) and cardiovascular risk factors in adult women. Methods: A total of 371 participants, aged 20-50 years, were enrolled from 10 health centers in this cross-sectional study. Usual dietary intake was evaluated by a validated food frequency questionnaires. The method of Kim was applied to calculate the DQI-I score. Further, we measured anthropometric and blood pressure of participants. To analysis biochemical parameters, fasting blood sample was taken. Results: The results of linear regression depicted that DQI-I score inversely and directly associated with serum level of Total cholesterol and high-density lipoprotein (P<0.05), respectively. However, there was no significant association between DQI-I and other cardiovascular risk factors. Conclusion: the finding of the current study supported that DQI-I score could improve some biomarkers of lipid profile such as TC and HDL-C. Future large-scale, prospective cohort or clinical studies are required to approve these findings.
