چکیده مقاله:

Background and Aim: Energy Intake (EI) is associated with chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease (CVD). This study was conducted to determine EI underreporting and it’s relationship with body composition in adults in Ravansar Non-Communicable Chronic Disease (RaNCD) cohort study. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 118 of participant’s RaNCD. EI was evaluated with Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) and 24 Hours Recall (24HR). Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) was measured using indirect calorimetry. We used EI/ RMR cut off to evaluate EI reporting status. Results: The mean ± SD of age in men and women were 44.1 ± 6.5 and 43.7 ± 5.25 respectively and 50.8% of participants were men. 67.8% of participants reported plausible EI. EI underreporting of 24HR was high (44.92%). We observed that implausible reporters of 24HR were likely overweight (P<0.005) but we did not observe a significant difference between EI reporting of FFQ and participants, s body composition. Conclusion: Our results suggested that the FFQ was an appropriate nutritional instrument to determine EI in this population. This questionnaire designed by Persian cohort and native foods were added to it.
