چکیده مقاله:

Background and Aim: Malnutrition and decreased dietary intake are among common problems in patients with kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis, which has a direct relationship with the decreased quality of life and increased mortality in these patients. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, demographic and anthropometric data which were retrieved from the dialysis department of Shahid Beheshti Hospital of Yasuj were recorded. Then, during the 4 days, the 24 hour dietary recall questionnaire of patients was completed and analyzed using Nutritionist 4 software. Statistical calculations were performed using SPSS version 19 software. The expression of quantitative information was in Mean ± SD form. Results: This study was conducted on 60 hemodialysis patients in Yasuj. 26% of patients were malnourished (BMI <18.5). 89%, 69%, 94.5% 85%, 100%, 100%, 81%, 96.3%, 67.2%, 100%, and 81.1% of subjects were suffering from the deficiency of vitamins A,B1, B2, B3, B6,folic acid, B12, E, C, D and K, respectively. Moreover, it was found that 29%, 78.1%, 90.9%, 100%, 74% and 96.3% of subjects were suffering from a low level of sodium, potassium, iron, calcium, phosphorus and zinc intake, respectively. The level of cholesterol intake in 78% of patients was lower than the recommended standard and percentage of fat from energy was also inadequate. In 72.8% of the patients, the ratio of PUFA to SFA intake was greater than 1 and so most patients had used a higher PUFA than saturated fatty acids. Conclusion: The results of this research indicate that the intake of vitamins and minerals in the hemodialysis patients was inadequate. Therefore, hemodialysis patients need nutrition counseling and medical cares for adequate dietary intake.
