چکیده مقاله:

Introduction and Objectives: Staphylococcus aureus has an accessory gene regulatory(agr) system that controls the expression of virulence genes. In addition, the mecA resistance gene is located on a chromosomal cassette called SCCmec, which has different types. The aim was to investigate SCCmec and agr types in S. aureus isolated from patients referring to Besat and Tohid Hospitals in Sanandaj city, Iran.79Materials and Methods:A total of 74 S. aureus were isolated from different clinical samples of patients admitted to Besat and Tohid hospitals in Sanandaj during 2017. Identification of isolates was performed using standard methods. After extraction of DNA from isolates by boiling method the frequency of five SCCmec and four agr types was investigated using polymerase chain reaction (PCR).Results: Of the74 isolates, 1 isolate (1.4%) harbored SCCmec type I, 2 isolates (2.7%) SCCmec typeIII, and 2 isolates (2.7%) SCCmec typeV. SCCmec types IV and II were not found. Furthermore, of the 74 isolates,12 isolates (16.2%) carried agrI and 24 isolates (32.4%) carried agrtypeIII. The other agr types were not found. Conclusion: According to the results of this study, the most common types of SCCmec were types III and V and the most prevalent agr type was agr typeIII.
