Recent Developments in Compacting Technology

High performance compacting presses have to be ahead of the trends, as the PM applications get more complex geometries and tighter tolerances. The challenge for the part producers is not only to be able to produce them at all, but to produce with profitability. Modern presses provide the technology to reach the goals: precision, speed, flexibility, low production and maintenance costs. The presses are CNC controlled, electrically or hydraulically. They have a precise control of movements and an intelligent energy management. The future will also be an intense exchange of information and datas within and outside the production area. DORST has a vision about the process called the Industry 4.0 , also known as IoT (Intelligence of Things). This paper presents the highlights of the press series TPA…/4HP and focus on the options and visions with regard to Industry 4.0 for the PM production.
