Strategic Assessment Design and Urban water Management in Iran using SWOT-AHP

Growth in industry, technology, communication and promotion of health, standards of quality of life all around the world led to an increase in world population. As same way, need to use of natural resources has been increased everyday. Water is one of the most important and valuable resource among all of those. On the other hand in the cities of developing countries (which Iran is also one of these developing countries) due to rapid and unplanned growth, process of using of natural resources is rapidly increasing. Among all natural resources, water is in severe pressure. Strategic urban water management with respect to all aspect of exteraction, consumption and purification can be one of the ways that conduct society (cities) to sustainability. In this paper we tried to asseste all aspects of urban water management in order of attain some practical strategies. In this way we used two common strategic models, these two models are SWOT Analysis and AHP. We used both of them as AHP- SWOT model. In fact, the criteria and method of analysis related to SWOT Analysis and method of weighting and ranking between criteria and subcriterias related to AHP model. Finally, we made 8 sterategis for urban water management. These strategies covered all of the aspect at the national scale.
