Background: Brucellosis is a zoonotic disease. Because of incomplete reporting, estimating the exact prevalence of brucellosis is difficult. brucellosis Infection in human occur when one contacts with infected animals and their products mostly. It can be occurred in all ages but most subjects are aged in 20-30 years old. Multiple complications and sometimes fateful treatment is difficulties in brucellosis. Suitable antibiotic therapy (dose & time) is the most important issue because of probability of drug resistance. According to the ministry of health (MOH) guidelines, patients with brucella should treat in 8 weeks’ period. MOH recommending extreme 6 therapeutic groups that all are dual antibiotic. In treatment protocol, age 12 old year is an important cut off to selection suitable treatment. The aim of current study was to determine that, do brucella antibiotic therapy is according to MOH guidelines. Methods: In cross sectional study, with convenience sampling, we applied data of patients (N=79) with brucellosis. All patients after diagnosis referring to governmental health center to register in surveillance system. Information extracted from an epidemiological checklist that filled with demographical and clinical information for per confirmed patient. Results: The average age of patients was 34±2 years. Only 13% of them had 12 years old and less. About 54% of patients were from urban area and 61% of patients were male. The percentage of patients that contact with live animals and reported history of milk use was 76% and 70% respectively and only 20% reported chess use history. Anorexia, pain, fever and weight loosing was a complex of clinical signs in 94% of patients. In our study 64% and 33% had 7-8 and 3-4 weeks’ period treatment and less respectively. We demonstrated 19 antibiotic therapy type groups that was not according MOH recommending. In this study 58% of patients had dual drug treatment and 10% had mono drug therapy. Finally, 46% of the patients had antibiotic therapy according to the MOH guideline.Conclusions: Given that antibiotic therapy according guidelines in order to prevent drug resistance and also to reach the best result of the treatment very important. In this survey we determined that in significant percentage of patients (54%) antibiotic therapy was not according MOH guideline.
