Introduction: Burnout is a problem that results from chronic job stress. Several factorscan be attributed to the burnout. One of them is personality traits.Objective: We aim to consider the effect of personality Traits with intermediate variablejob performance on job burnout using Structural Equation Model (SEM).Method and Materials: This cross sectional study is carried out among teacher staff inHormozgan Province (Iran) in year 2017. Participants were selected using proportionalstratum sampling method. The study tools included four questioners (The Maslach BurnoutInventory, NEO Five-Factor Inventory, Job Performance Inventory, and DemographicalQuestioners).Result: 198 individuals were recruited in the study, in which 109 (55%) were female. Themean of age and job experiences in female were 36.03 ±6.76 and 15.83 ±6.75 years,respectively. The SEM showed adequate model fit (RMSEA=0.042, GFI=0.959,AGFI=0.90, P=0.274). A significant indirect and positive relationship was found betweenpersonality traits sub item neuroticism and job burnout, but sub items conscientiousnessand agreeableness showed a negative significant indirect relationship with job burnout.Conclusion: Changes in agreeableness, conscientiousness and neuroticism can indirectlycontrol the job burnout. According to the literature review, use of mindfulness practice,improving compassion satisfaction and incising experienced fun can increaseagreeableness, conscientiousness and decrease neuroticism so such programs can beproposed to decrease job burnout.
