چکیده مقاله:

Introduction:Nalidixic acid used in the treatment of uncomplicated urinary tract infections caused by Gram-negative bacteria, Except Pseudomonas spp. Nalidixic acid is ananti-bacterial compound that destroys sensitive bacteria in the urinary tract by stopping the production of essential proteins needed by the bacteria to survive. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of this drug on weight and mouse embryonic organ development. Material and method: In this study the effect of Nalidixic acid in embryonic weight and organ development in mice checked out in two groups and all of them was pregnant. Each group consisted of 10 mice, One of groups was the control and the treatment group get 200mg/kg of Nalidixic acid Intraperitoneal on eight day of pregnancy. On the thirteenth day embryo, the fetus removed from the uterus and examinedmacroscopically and microscopically. Result: The Nalidixic acid cause decrease in fetus weight and delays in the development of mice embryonic limb protrusions in the ventral lateral region fetus. Average weight in control group was 0/091 gr and in treatment group was 0/027 gr, significant difference was seen between the control group and the experimental group (P≤0/05). Conclusion: Decreased fetal weight and cause deformities in limbs mainly due to the ravages of Nalidixic acid by reducing proliferation of blood vessels and poor nutritional status of the fetus. Nalidixic acid cause mutations in the 10-5 methylene hydrofolate reducytase enzyme and subsequently weight loss and limb malformations observed.
