چکیده مقاله:
Fascioliasis trematodes primarily involve the liver of herbivorous mThe common forms of human fascioliasis are masses or abscesses in the liver parenchyma or in the bile duct (where they establish and grow to maturity) (Kim et al.,2015). Although sometimes the immature flukes become ectopic and are detected in other organs. In this report an unusual manifestation of ectopic fascioliasis in a patient’s strap muscles is presentedammals, i.e:sheeps, cattles and goats (Kim et al., 2015) 2. Case report:A 23-year-old woman, resident in Deilam village, from Khoozestan province,south-west of Iran, was referred to the hospital, with a neck mass from 2 months ago. The mass was palpated in the left anterior side of the patient’s neck in the level of the thyroid gland’s left lobe, m:5×2 cm, with firm consistency and adherence to it’s covering skin, without any erythema or ulceration. Fine needle aspiration, from the left thyroid lobe, adjacent to the mass was taken. Cytologic examination of the smears showed moderate cellularity with no atypical cells present Histopathologic examination of sectioned muscles showed necrotizing and palisading granulomatous reaction around a immature parasite, morphologically compatible with a longitudinally sectioned immature Fasciola hepatica. 3. DISCUSSION: Because of the existence of Fasciola spp. In the cattle, sheeps and goats in this area, and other different parts of Iran country,as an endemic region for this parasitic infection, further surveys are needed for estimating the prevalence of fasciola spp and besides it should be considered as a differential diagnosis for tumors identified in different organs such as neck of our reported patient.
