Placental mesenchymal dysplasia with placental mass complicated by hydropsfetalis: a case report

Placental mesenchymal dysplasia is a rare condition of placenta. Its true incidence andunderlying cause has remained unknown till now due to its rarity. Its accurate diagnosis isessential, because placental mesenchymal dysplasia is usually compatible with a good fetaland maternal outcome. A precise ultrasound evaluation can contribute to the identification ofcharacteristic features, particularly to discriminate it from partial hydatidiformmole, its maindifferential diagnosis. We report an early third-trimester pathologically diagnosed asplacental mesenchymal dysplasia. It was complicated by fetal hydrops and death.
