THE FIRST SEROLOGICAL STUDY OF COXIELLA BURNETII IN PREGNANT WOMEN WHO WERE REFERRED TO HOSPITAL IN KHORRAMABAD CITY FOR ABORTION

Background and Aim:Q fever is a common, globally distributed, zoonotic infection caused by the obligate intracellular gammaproteobacterial organism,coxiella burnetii. This disease have different clinical symptoms such as spontaneous abortion, premature birth, intrauterine growth retardation, oligoamonios and abnormal pregnancy in pregnant women. The aim of this study was to investigate the coxiella burnetii in pregrant women who were referred to Hospital in khorramabad city for abortionsMethods:A total of 92 samples were collected randomly from pregnant women who were referred for abortion to Asali Hospetal in Khorramabad in 2017. Were examined using indirect ELISA assay kit for the detection of C.burnetii phase II human antibodies in their serum samples.Results:The total 92 serum samples from pregnant women abortions, that 21sample(22/86%) was positive and 66 sample(71/73%) was negative and 5 sample(5/4%) was suspected.Conclusion:The present study demonstrated a high seroprevalence of coxiella burnetii. in pregnant women abortions . according to clinical symptoms in pregnant women and risk of abortions in women it is necessary to pay attention to this disease .
