چکیده مقاله:

The present study investigates the impact of a dust storm on sea surface temperature (SST) and chlorophyll content in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman using MODIS observations. The MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) instrument is operating on both theTerra (originally known as EOS AM-1) and Aqua (originally known as EOS PM) spacecraft. MODIS images are used to analyze the spatial-temporal variation of the sea surface temperature (SST) and chlorophyll concentration during 2014 – 2017.The results of this study showed that there is a relationship between the chlorophyll concentrations, sea surface temperature (SST) and aerosol optical thickness (AOT). The temperature decrease could be related to the energy reduction received from the sun due to the presence of air aerosols. Also, analysis of MODIS images showed an increase in chlorophyll content in the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea after this dust storm event. The present study demonstrates usage of remote sensing data and geospatial techniques in detecting and mapping of dust events over land and ocean
