This study intended to develop a model for aleviating burnout for EFL teachers working at private language institutes in Iran by taking into account the principles of grounded theory used as the basis for the exploration and identification of the possible influencing variables. Accordingly, this study was planned to be qualitative which had three steps: (1) developing a tentative interview protocol at the beginning of 2016-2017 academic year after reviewing the body of the related literature on EFL teacher burnout; (2) piloting the protocol through conducting the interview to 3 EFL teachers; (3) conducting the main session of the interview. In this respect, 14 EFL teachers viewpoints were sought, and then, based on the elicited responses, a tentative preliminary model was proposed encompassing the available sources, namely, personal and social sources known as micro-level sources as well as academic and administrative sources known as macro-level sources
