Prediction of the Pragmatic Performance of the Iranian EFL learners for Speech Act of Request by Gradner s Multiple Intelligence Theory The present study attempts to investigate predictive power of Gardner s Multiple Intelligence theory for pragmatic performance of the Iranian EFL learners. To accomplish this purpose, 103 EFL learners studying in Velayat University, Iranshahr were selected as participants of the study by convenience sampling. Based on the result of OPT (Oxford Placement Test), they were at upper-intermediate level of language proficiency. The participants filled out the Gardner s Multiple Intelligence questionnaire and ten-item DCT (Discourse Completion Test) for the speech act of request. Multiple regression was utilized to analyze the data. The findings indicated that interpersonal , verbal-linguistic and logicalmathematicintelligences were the best predictors of the participants pragmatic performance (p<0.5). It also became clear that bodily-kinesthetic and naturalistic intelligences were negatively predicted the pragmatic performance of the participants
