The Impact of Watching Original Films and Listening to Songs on Iranian high school Students’ Speaking Skill

چکیده مقاله:
This study aims at investigating the potential effect of watching original films and listening to songs on Iranian high school student s speaking skill. To this end, the participants selected among 57 EFL students of high school in Gonbadekavoos, Golestan, Iran. In order to homogenize the students an Oxford Quick Placement Test administered, and at the end 49 students remained, and they were divided to three groups. In next stage the researcher conducted a speaking pretest. Then the treatmentsessions started and finally the researcher conducted anther speaking test, which was considered as posttest. The obtained data were analyzed by SPSS software. The results of paired and independent sample t-test show that watching original films and listening to songs were effective in students’ speaking skill. Furthermore, it was found that watching original films outperformed listening to songs in improving speaking skill.
