Risk Management Analysis Using Probabilistic Safety Assessment

Nowadays, safety assessment with the probabilistic approaches in order to complete deterministic approaches has been used increasingly in safety studies of risky industries. This methodology by utilizing reliability principle as an efficient tool has been applied for determining consequence of accidents caused by initiating events and quantity determination of frequency occurrence of them. This approach because of a comprehensive and systematic view has been proved its ability to reveal weakness points of design and operation. These weaknesses have been overlooked by the best experts and safety engineers. This methodology has been indicated that unpleasant events both with low probability and high consequences and scenarios that have low consequences and high probability should be considered as well. Contrary to public perception, these seemingly low-risk events are often more harmful than the first events. In fact, risk management includes implementing safety probabilistic assessment methodologies beside common deterministic methods in hazard identification and determination of sequences. In this article, identification of comprehensive risk management has been studied with safety probabilistic assessment methodology which includes application of dynamic safety probabilistic assessment methods and living probabilistic safety assessment beside former probabilistic common methods and deterministic methods in hazard identification and determination of risk informed decision making in sensitive industries particularly nuclear power plants
