چکیده مقاله:
Introduction & Aim: Based on many cancers, including breast cancer, primary treatment of the breast cancer caused Radiation effect on the heart, inevitably. The aim of this study is to evaluate the changes of the left ventricular ejection fraction caused by radiotherapy in patients with breast cancer.Method: the descriptive analytic study studied over 96 breast cancer patients’ files who referred to Ramsar ‘Imam Sajjad Hospital’ since 1390 till now (1396). They were selected by consensus sampling methods. There was echo-graphic data for all patients in this study. Echography had been done before and 3 months after radiotherapy treatment. There was a checklist including ejection fraction numbers, and in addition, data based on patients’ radiotherapy was included by total received dose, which were all extracted from patients’ files and recorded them on the checklist. The instruments of the collected data were presented as a researcher made checklist dividing to demographic information, breast cancer information, and radiotherapy. Obtained data were analyzed by using chi-Square test and SPSS version 21 software. Result: the present study showed that the left ventricle ejection before and after radiotherapy of patients with heart cancer significantly decreased (P-value 0/05). Moreover, the result revealed that the left ventricular ejection fraction is the result of radiotherapy, which could be based on some variables such as the history of family with heart disease, hypertension, Herceptin drug and hyperlipidemia. The mentioned factors significantly reduce the level of EF.Conclusion: This study showed that radiotherapy reduce left ventricle EF and the other variables including a history of heart disease in the family, high blood pressure, Herceptin and Hyperlipidemia are aggregative risk factors in the reduction of left ventricular ejection fraction which should be in consideration for the medical team in clinical trials and cancer screening.
