چکیده

breast cancer is the most common cancer among whites in the world. Papillomaviruses are classified into different categories depending on their carcinogenicity and the invaded tissue. Studies have shown that there is relationship between these viruses and cancer in the human body. However, papillomaviruses have been documented to have relationships with colorectal, uterine, and even colon cancers. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between human papillomaviruses polymorphism and breast cancer. Methods: Our research population included 160 paraffin blocked breast cancer samples and 150 non-cancerous breast samples from Urmia City. The designed sequence was amplified by PCR using a β-globin gene primer. The sequences of positive samples was determined by DNA sequencing and both compared in the Gene Bank. Results were analyzed with SSPSS Ver. 23 software. Results: The papillomavirus was detected as 42.7% and 11.4% among the cancerous and non-cancerous samples, respectively. Of the identified genotypes including 5, 18, 19, 21, 23, and 56, only the two types of 18 and 19 showed significant relationships with breast cancer (OR = 32.7 Cl 4.1 – 256.7).Conclusion: Based on the results obtained, the types significantly liked with breast cancer also caused colorectal cancer in patients, such that in addition to affecting the breast cell division system, the two types also affected E6 and E7 proto-oncogenes in the colorectal cellular cycle.
