چکیده

Introduction & Aim: Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) is very invasive and a lethal form of breast cancer. In molecular point of view, deregulation of signaling pathways can lead to many disorders, like breast cancer. Among this, PI3K pathway is a main pathway in cell growth and development. Deregulation of PI3K signaling genes is reported in a variety of disease and cancers. PI3K is the key gene in this pathway,so the aim of this study was to assess the expression of PI3K gene in TNBC samples. Methods: 20 tumoral and 20 normal adjacent breast samples were received from Tumor Bank, Cancer Institute, Imam Khomeini Hospital (Tehran, Iran). RNA extraction, cDNA synthesis and Quantitative Real- Time RT-PCR analysis were performed. REST 2009® software was used for final relative expression analysis. The result of Gene expression was normalized to HPRT1 as a house keeping gene. P-value less than 0.05 was considered as significant level Results: Data Analyses showed that PI3K expression was significantly increased up to 4 folds in tumor samples compared with normal samples (P< 0.05). Conclusion: PI3K pathway plays an important role in cell proliferation and migration, particularly ininvasive TNBC. Overexpression of PI3K gene can lead to differentiation, progression and invasion of breast tumor. More studies are needed to find out the real role of this gene in TNBC. The results of this study can have a contribution in diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of breast cancer
