چکیده مقاله:
The 1979 Islamic Revolution changed Iran’s monarchical system and established an Islamic Republic. The current political system and governmental structure of Iran is unique and complex of theocratic and democratic government. The governmental structure of the Islamic republic is based on Ayatollah Khomeini’s political treatise – Islamic Government (Hokumat-e eslami). Ayatollah argued Islamic Government is the true constitutional governance that has Qur’an and the traditions as a Constitution. According to Khomeini’s concept the Iran’s Islamic revolution was not only political and social event. This was also the revolution in Shi’a and that meant the Supreme Religious Authority of Shi’a theory’s radical transformation. The 1979 Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran legalized the new form of government in Iran, which includes directly and indirectly elected legislative and executive bodies. At the head of the Islamic Republic of Iran stands the Supreme Leader and the authorities of the executive, the legislative branches , the judiciary and armed forces subject to him. In 1989 the constitutional amendment abolished the institution of Prime Minister and the institute of President became relatively stronger.
