Studying condition of Knowledge, Attitude and preventive Behaviors of Breast Cancer among Teachers in Ferdows

Background and objective: Breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer among all wide spread cancers worldwide. After lung cancer, breast cancer is the main cause of deathamong women. One of the best ways to detect this disease early is to do screening. This study has been done to analyze the knowledge, attitude, and preventive behaviors of teachers regarding the breast cancer in Ferdows city. Materials and Methods: The study was of descriptive type. The participants were 183 female teachers at elementary and high schools selected based on census sampling. A two-part questionnaire was used for data collection. The first part was a demographic questionnaire and the second part was a questionnaire to investigate the knowledge, attitude, and behavior of the women regarding breast cancer. Then Data using the software SPSS / VER 16 and descriptive statistics were analyzed. Results: Among 183 participating women, 98/3% were married. The participants age mean was 42/3 ± 4/5 and most teachers have undergraduate degree (73%). Generally, only 18/8% of teachers appropriate knowledge level, 15/3% the best performance and 13/7% had the best attitude. Conclusion: Based on the findings of the present study, since the knowledge, attitude and the preventive behaviors of women was weak, planning to enable and motivate women to use the screening methods is highly emphasized.
