Introducthion :developments of medicine and healthy has caused to relative incereas of life expectancy. Although agedness is not similar to disease and disabilites but elders are more subjected to diseases and problems than younger people so period of agedness is special crisis period which it has special place in healthy cares it is important that area where elder lives in since it forms very important dimension of life quality comfortable and mental health and that is a person who feels as he /she spends his/her time at himself/herself home is a factor which places in peak of effective factors on mental health . this paper is designed by purpose of life quality and general health of retirement of home and elders who settle retirement home of city of Ilam.Method and materials: this paper is descriptive analytic and fragmental which is selected by random sampling and based project criterion and its population includes 60 people who 30 of them are related to settelers who live in retirement home and other 30people were of people who live at home . In order to collecting data it has been used by life quality questionary sf-36 and general health which is acknowledged its reporting and constancy . for analyzing of data has been used by SPSS soft ware and statical tests and descriptive –analytic indexes.Findings: based on obtained result of project findings (sig:0/000,t:8/654) indicate that mental health has meaningful difference in two group of elders who live at home and elders who settle in retirement home and based on second project findings (sig:0/000, t:6/767 ) indicate that life quality mean has meaningful difference between elders who settle at home with elders who settle in retirement home so elders who live at home is enjoyed by better and high life quality than olders who live in retirement home.Results: these finding showed elders due to communications and multi-dimension relationship with family and other relatives have positive feelings and hope to live is increased in them. So elders who live at home have better and high life quality and mental health than elders who live in retirement home.
