Preparation of a Skin Colour Chart for the Characterisation of Digital Cameras by an Improved Method

This paper describes the preparation of skin colour charts for the characterisation of a digital camera. It is shown that the choices of colour samples in a colour chart are important for the optimal characterisation of a digital camera. A review of suggested systematic methods of colour chart preparation is described and an improved method of colour sample selection is proposed. Skin samples are selected from a large database of measured skin tones that cover all ethnic skin types. Experimental data is shown to validate the colour charts ffectiveness in the characterisation of a digital camera to human skin colour
