چکیده

Background: Breast pain is one of the most common complaints of women referring to a gynecology clinics and doctors. This pain can cause anxiety and consequently reduce the quality of life for a woman in the home and society. The aim of this research project is to assess the severity of pain and anxiety in patient with breast pain and normal examination, before and after breast sonography.Materials and Methods: Among those with a breast pain and normal examination that came for breast sonography in Shahid Faghihi hospital, Hazrat Zainab hospital and Shahid Motahari clinic in Years 90 and 91, 51 patients agreed to cooperate in this research project and filled out the questionnaire for the evaluation of pain and anxiety before and after the breast sonography.Results: The average amount of anxiety severity in patients before sonography is 51.9 and after sonography is 37.9. And also The average amount of pain severity before sonography is 3.3 and after sonography is 2.4.Conclusion: The results indicate that the severity of pain and anxiety after ultrasound has significantly reduced. It may be concluded that ultrasound and reassurance of not having a specific pathology in it , can reduce the pain and anxiety by impact on the psychological aspects. And also sonographic findings indicate that 88% of patients have normal sonography without any finding.
