Resveratrol can be use in prevention and treatment of cancers

Cancer is a major problem of the century, which is the second cause of death after cardiovascular disease. Resveratrol is a polyphenolic compound that is found in some plants such as grape(also redwine), berries and peanuts with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and chemo suppressive effects. In this review, we have investigated the impact of resveratrol and its mechanisms in cancer, with thepossibility that these pathways can be used to treat cancer.The google scholar, Pubmed, SID, Elsevier, and Nature was searched by using cancer, resveratrol and prevention keywords. About 53 review andoriginal article were selected and checked.most of the studies report the efficacy of resveratrol in breast and GI cancer. Also, the antitumoral effect of resveratrol has been investigated in many studies forother cancer such as melanoma, prostate, lung and skin cancer.In an epidemiologic article, have been shown that about 50 percent of reduction of breast cancer risk in the women with resveratrolconsumption from grape but not from wine. In several animal models, there was no significant evidence between resveratrol and prevention of cancer For instance in an in vitro study resveratrol hadno effect on metastasis and growth of transplanted 4T1 breast cancer cell in mice however in vitro it inhibits the growth of the same cancer cells.Resveratrol uses several mechanisms that in general includethree stages of carcinogenesis; tumor initiation, promotion, and progression.Regarding the studies used in this review, it is probable that resveratrol has anti-cancer effect with several mechanisms that can use in future research to establish its activity and utility as a drug for treat cancer
